Our aim was to provide Refresher to Flowering plants and to the reserve and to adaptations to harsh environments. Exploration of the reserve. Learning some basic plant ID and drawing from life. Taking back work into classroom to work with local artist to produce final work .
Activities Flowering plant game and quiz, introduction to FOF and to Moorhouse NNR. Reserve visit: basic plant id and mini beasts consider adaptations of plants to environment, Exploration of reserve, Drawing and observations and photos, Use of Rainbow strips collect and explore variety of textures, colours After visit Pastel work with artist using drawings and photos from site. Production of flowers and large display for school. Time 2.5 days Funding required: Mini bus to site and local artist, officer time Learning outcomes: Heightened awareness of the local reserve and its importance. Raising awareness of plants, their beauty and uniqueness. Ability for species to survive and adapt in a harsh environment,. Linking science with art, producing art work for display
