Dufton Youth Club 2006

 

Dufton Youth club wanted to do an art -based environmental project based on the local landscape. They decided to proceed with an art / flora project with a community focus to connect children to local landscape for them to and produce artwork to be located in the village hall. Opportunity for Flora project in informal education setting

Partners English Nature (Now Natural England, Moorhouse NNR
Year Age 5-12  (With support from parents & the community)
Key Stage 2
FOF objectives Biodiversity, Cultural, Social
National Curriculum Art, Biology
Site visited: Moorhouse National Nature Reserve.

Activities
Exploration of the site. Collecting material with rainbow strips, Plant and insect ID,  Exploring texture, colour, Sketching and photos on site.

In youth club:
Sketching, painting, Work in ceramics with artist, Complete work

Time
1.5 days 

Funding required:
Transport, Artist , Officer Time.


Learning outcomes:

The ceramic panel with the children’s artwork is being completed for Dufton Village Hall.
