Picturing Upland Landscapes Report
In 2007 the project launched its 'Picturing Upland Futures' report. The report is the result of work carried out by the project into upland management in Cumbria and options for its future.
The main features of the report are:
- A call for a multi-sectorial approach to policy and financial assistance in the uplands and joined-up landscape policies.
- A pictorial vision of what Cumbria's uplands might look like in the future if their broader values are considered when making decisions about upland policy.
- A range of priority options recommended in order to unlock the potential value of Cumbria's upland landscape.
We hope that the report will contribute to the debate on the future of the uplands in general and in Cumbria in particular. We also hope that the pictorial approach adopted by the report highlights a novel way of engaging in the discussion on the future development of upland policy.
