What's on

We're not running a festival in 2011 but our next one will be in 2012 subject to funding.

We are however running two 'Fell Care Days' at Helvellyn on Thursday 29 September and Ennerdale on Tuesday 18 October. These are practical volunteering days highlighting the immense role that volunteering plays in the conservation and management of the fells. They'll raise awareness about the benefits the uplands provide for us all and involve lots of different groups of volunteers including local schools, colleges, community groups, businesses, Friends of the Lake District and National Park volunteers.

For full info about the volunteering opportunities at Ennerdale on 18 October click here.
As part of the day there's a short FREE guided walk at 2pm about the landscape, history and archaeology of the Ennerdale valley starting from Ennerdale Scout Centre grid ref .

There are some great farm visits and farm events planned across Cumbria for 2011 through the Friends of the Lake District 'Farming Landscapes Project'. The programme of events is available through usual Cumbrian outlets such as libraries and TIC's or by contacting Penny Ozanne on 01539 720700 or This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. Please do keep checking the website for developments in 2011. An easier way to keep up to date is by joining our email mailing list to receive event updates as they are planned.
